Red Frogs

Red Frogs

Named after the soft red Freddo frog shape and sized lollies, Red Frogs is an organisation of volunteers who aim to keep partying teenagers safe at events such as “Schoolies Week” and festivals. Basics such as low blood sugar, dehydration and keeping safe can be problems faced by partying teenagers who may forget to eat yet continue to consume alcohol. Young inebriate women walking home are particularly vulnerable. Further, drug taking and excessive alcohol consumption can result in real anxiety for revellers who can become disorientated and or separated from their friends and unable to make their way to their accommodation.

Red Frog volunteers feed, rehydrate, walk people home and administer first aid at these times when police and ambulance resources are stretched to absolute limits. They cook pancake breakfasts for those that have been out all night partying and not eating.

During “Schoolies Week” Red Frog groups can be found at many venues across Australia including Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Torquay. We, Camberwell Rotary, sponsored volunteers at Byron Bay schoolies week 2016
