Rotary friends and friends of Rotary

Thank you to the 38 members who attended our zoom meeting, it’s a great effort to get so many online, it was a terrific presentation from David Dippie from Donations in Kind

The membership committee led by David Baker is doing a terrific job with a few new member prospects in the pipeline, it was great to have Michelle Critchley Join our zoom meeting

The Camberwell Rotary Art show sales as @ Wednesday 28th have been strong with over 100 paintings sold to the value of over $100,000, very strong viewing numbers continue on the website, as a club let’s hope the momentum continues for the final week of the show

The PP night has been rescheduled to the 18th August @ Conchie Hall with Spitting Image catering, it’s planned to be a partners night so be quick to register, same great price of $30

SCAR TREE AT YARRA BANK RESERVE TESTAMENT TO AN ANCIENT LEGACY

The Yarra Bank Reserve, site for the interactive play sculpture being presented to the community on September 12th as a gift from Rotary, is a beautiful park with an ancient history. The traditional land of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, who hunted and fished along the Yarra banks, the reserve contains an ancient scar tree. A scar tree or scarred tree, also known as a canoe tree and shield tree, is a tree which has had bark removed by Aboriginal Australians for the creation of bark canoes, shelters, weapons such as shields, tools, traps, containers or other artefacts.
Visitors to the park on September 12th for the Opening Ceremony and Family Fun day will be able to view the scar tree, and reflect on and pay respect to the families who lived, worked and played along these banks in a distant past.

WORDING FOR PLAQUE EXPRESSES THE STRENGTH IN UNITY.

The theme for the new playground project was stated quite casually, early in the planning cycle, by Benjamin Gilbert of Agency of Sculpture, creators of the Rotary interactive play sculpture. Benjamin said: "The play sculpture is meant to demonstrate that when people work together they can create something magnificent". The plaque will be unveiled by the Mayor of Boroondara at the Family Fun Day on Sunday September 12th.

Well, I have finally made it back to Texas!!!  It was a good trip, with the usual variety of experiences along the way, but lovely to see Bill again.  It is extremely hot here, with the normal daytime temperature hovering around 38 degrees for the next few weeks and very high humidity; thank goodness for good air-conditioning!

ClubRunner Corner: Home Page Menu Items - Member's Services

This week I want to expand on the information available under the Home Page Member's Services tab.

As the image above show, there are 7 options:
  1. Annual Reports: here are the Club's own Annual Reports as submitted prior to each year's AGM, as well as District 9800 Annual Reports.
  2. Club Directory: here is the eDirectory which draws "live" data from member's profiles, as well as PDFs of the last 8 "traditionally formatted" directories.
  3. Club Board Documents: here are the Minutes of each Board Meeting, together with the corresponding Committee Reports, Financial Reports and other documentation.
  4. Club Meetings: here are the statutory documents for Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings (Notice of Meeting, Agenda etc)
  5. Rosters: here is the Roster for the Camberwell Sunday Market. Other Rosters are handled elsewhere using ClubRunner Volunteer Signup Lists.
  6. Templates & Procedures: Templates include the Request for Payment document (it opens in a separate tab on your browser, where you can print it), and the current year Club Letterhead (which is a downloadable Word document).
  7. Edit My Profile: this is for another day!
Making Friends with your Club Website
This is the first in a series of articles to help you become familiar with the amazing functionality of our Club's website. Today we will talk about the Home Page Menu Bar, and specifically the "About Our Club" tab:

These Menu options are described in detail as follows:

1. Meeting and Location: this is useful for visitors and potential new members to see where and when we meet. Clicking on this tab gives the address of Conochie Hall and the day and time we meet. There is even a venue map available.

2. Club Executives: this gives a listing of all the Club Executives, as well as a listing of all the Club Committees and their Chairs.

3. The "Contact Us" tab gives an input form that is automatically emailed to the current Secretary. The Contact Us button also appears elsewhere on the Home Page and this is the first point of contact for many of our new member prospects.

4. Club History: this currently features separate documents for the First Meeting and Charter of the Club, the list of Past Presidents, a list of all Club members who have been recognised as Paul Harris Fellows, and a list of all Club Members who have been given Royce Abbey Awards (these lists will be updated annually in July).
The Club History option will also be where all the Club history, stories, Member's reminiscences, images and memorabilia will be stored - a work in progress, so watch this space.

Go to our Home Page at www.camberwellrotary.com.au and look for yourself.

Until next week.
