Our monthly market is held inside and outside at the beautifully restored Hawthorn Arts Centre.

Each stallholder has a story and each product is made with authenticity and soul. Our market is artisan, unique and showcases the best in handmade happiness.

Volunteers are needed for a range of tasks including bump in/setup, attendance monitoring and bump out/clean up.

Chairman: Nav Muniratna

Andrew lives in Tasmania, is married to Anna and they have 4 children.
He attended Camberwell State School and Camberwell High
In 1965 was selected by  Camberwell  Rotary as one of 3 students to be sent to the USA in the early years of  the Rotary Youth Exchange, and his four children have been Rotary Exchange students in Finland, Brazil, South Africa and France.
In the US he played a full season of American gridiron and in 1966 represented all exchange students in the USA as a guest speaker to the Denver Rotary  International Convention.
In 1969 he joined TAA in Melbourne  Head Office as a Management Trainee and in 1979 became National Holiday Travel Manager and won a national Marketing Award for the deveolpment of Take 7 Holidays.
In 1981 he left TAA and moved into private enterprise and developed several businesses.
He has held many roles in Rotary including Rotaract and RYLA and served on District Committees.

His wife Anna, describes Andrew as a failed Retiree.

It's on again! The ever-popular Working Bee at Camp Getaway is being organised by the Community Service Committee, and will commence on Friday evening with the traditional pub dinner at the Axedale Tavern at 105 High Street Axedale VIC 3551. 

There is plenty of accomodation at the camp, just bring a pillow, sleeping bag (or sheet/blankets) and toiletries.

Saturday will be busy, with painting, gardening, cleaning etc - and there are plenty of "light duties" jobs to do as well. Ex Camberwell Rotarian Andy Spry and his team will be leading the painting duties, so there will be plenty of professionals around for guidance and assistance. Dinner will be at Camp Getaway, prepared by members on a voluntary basis.

Sunday is the day for finishing off the various tasks, and we should be finished by lunchtime for an early afternoon departure.

New members should especially consider attending this Working Bee - it's huge fun and really worthwhile.

The Club will have a presence at the Boroondara Volunteer Expo this year, to attract non-club volunteers to assist with our fund-raising projects such as the Art Show, the Hawthorn Makers Market, the Camberwell Sunday Market and even RIMERN. 

This will also be good exposure of the Club to potential new members as well.

We will need two volunteers to help at our stand, each doing 2 hour shifts.

This week in lieu of our normal Dinner Meeting, we are having a Fellowship Night to pack FORaMEAL emergency meal packs. There are jobs within the packing process for all ages and abilities.

For those who have done these packing nights before, you will know what a fun night it is, all working together around the tables to fill and seal as many of these emergency food packs as we can in one evening. For new members, as well as spouses, partners, children, grandchildren, it's a must! So visitors, guests prospective members and even members of the public are very welcome, what a way to demonstrate "Rotary in Action".

And we will all have the satisfaction that these FORaMEAL packs will be going to destinations, both locally and abroad, where there is desperate need for food relief.

Also please bring a share plate for supper, there will not be formal catering for this event. See the attached flyer for more details.

Rory Hughes is a volunteer team member for the District 9800 Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), a week-long immersive leadership program for 18 to 25 year olds.

 He has been involved in Rotary-sponsored programs for nearly a decade, including Camberwell Rotary's award winning Seeds of Peace Anzac Centenary initiative.

After being sponsored by the Camberwell Rotary Club to attend RYLA in 2018, he has since helped to deliver both in-person and online programs, as well as been a member of the RYLA committee.

It's close to the corner of Glenferrie Road and High Street in Malvern.

As the 2023 Rotary International Convention is being held in Melbourne, the Rotary Clubs of Camberwell, Glenferrie and Hawthorn will jointly host a "Welcome Dinner" for overseas visitors attending RICON Melbourne on Monday 29 May. The venue is the superb Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.

This exciting event will replace the normal Club Dinner Meeting on Wednesday 31 May.

It's all hands on deck for this phase of the Camberwell Art Show. On Monday all the equipment required to stage the Show is transported from Kent's Storage to the ATC. On Tuesday ALL paintings have to be received physically and digitally into the Show. On Wednesday ALL paintings have to be hung on the panels. Thursday is for finalsing the position of artwork on the panels, and for judging. Friday is for final adjustments to the panels, cleaning up, and setting up for the Gala Opening.

The 2023 Camberwell Art Show Bump In/Set Up is in full swing, and hence we will have our traditional Weekly Meeting at Swinburne, where there will be a minimum of formalities and plenty of work to do - we need to have the hanging of paintings well advanced by the end of this evening's work.

The Gala Opening of the Camberwell Art Show is an event not to missed - fabulous food, good wines, and of course the first opportunity to purchase your favourite piece of art.
