The Club is undertaking it's yearly 38mate walk to build awareness of Myeloma - the theme derives from 38 Australians who are diagnosed every week with this incurable blood cancer - Camberwell Rotary has been associated with Myeloma Australia for over 20 years - and this continues with it's multi- Club/multi-District award-winning outreach ROMP initiative in regional Victoria. So SAVE THE DATE - 38mate Club Walk for Myeloma - Sunday 5th March 11.00am at Hawthorn Makers Market. All Club members can join our Hawthorn Makers Market team at Hawthorn Town Hall on Sunday 5th March - it's the second highest fundraising vehicle the Club has & involves over 60 stallholders promoting their craft - please support it - and also participate in a leisurely walk down Glenferrie Rd at 11am to raise awareness for those living with myeloma. You can register to walk on the myeloma website for $20 per person - www.myeloma.org.au - follow the 38mate prompts, to "Hawthorn Vic Walk" Both maroon and white TEAM MYELOMA tees are available here as well in most sizes ($30 ) and white 38mate baseball caps ($25) - but please order before 24th Feb to ensure delivery before the walk on 5th March. We will bring extra caps and tees to the market stall to purchase on the day - to ensure you can kit out to help build myeloma awareness during the walk. All families and pooches are welcome - as well as all Rotarians. It also coincides with the Glenferrie Festival Day on 5th March - so there will be road closures along this section of Glenferrie Rd to open it up for the festival and other community stallholders - expect music and good food options as well - so arrive early to secure any parking or come by train. Be there or be square - let's hope for a good sunny day. All other queries - contact Adrian on 0431 146 530 |

It's on again! The ever-popular Working Bee at Camp Getaway is being organised by the Community Service Committee, and will commence on Friday evening with the traditional pub dinner at the Axedale Tavern at 105 High Street Axedale VIC 3551. There is plenty of accomodation at the camp, just bring a pillow, sleeping bag (or sheet/blankets) and toiletries. Saturday will be busy, with painting, gardening, cleaning etc - and there are plenty of "light duties" jobs to do as well. Ex Camberwell Rotarian Andy Spry and his team will be leading the painting duties, so there will be plenty of professionals around for guidance and assistance. Dinner will be at Camp Getaway, prepared by members on a voluntary basis. Please Register to attend as soon as possible by clicking the link below - so we know who is attending. |

The Club will have a presence at the Boroondara Volunteer Expo this year, to attract non-club volunteers to assist with our fund-raising projects such as the Art Show, the Hawthorn Makers Market, the Camberwell Sunday Market and even RIMERN. This will also be good exposure of the Club to potential new members as well. We will need two volunteers to help at our stand, each doing 2 hour shifts. |

This week in lieu of our normal Dinner Meeting, we are having a Fellowship Night to pack FORaMEAL emergency meal packs. There are jobs within the packing process for all ages and abilities. For those who have done these packing nights before, you will know what a fun night it is, all working together around the tables to fill and seal as many of these emergency food packs as we can in one evening. For new members, as well as spouses, partners, children, grandchildren, it's a must! So visitors, guests prospective members and even members of the public are very welcome, what a way to demonstrate "Rotary in Action". And we will all have the satisfaction that these FORaMEAL packs will be going to destinations, both locally and abroad, where there is desperate need for food relief. Also please bring a share plate for supper, there will not be formal catering for this event. See the attached flyer for more details. |
