We gather together on the lands of the traditional custodians, the Wurundjeri and Woi Wurrung people. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future together.

The club’s Annual General Meeting was held last week. It was great to have members attend providing the required quorum to proceed. Although the process went relatively smoothly, it is disappointing that the vacant board positions have not yet been filled. If anyone has an interest in serving as a President Nominee for 2023-4, Community Chair, or Vocation and Youth Chair, please advise President Elect George de Souza. The club relies on members taking up the responsibility of key roles to work effectively. Should you decide to do so, you can expect on-going support and a great opportunity to learn more about Rotary and friendships with other board members.
Our Christmas function is only days away, on Wednesday 14 December 2022. Please book asap. The Fellowship Committee has worked hard to make this event enjoyable and entertaining. A donation to the Christmas raffle would be appreciated – please see Patrick Docherty.
Membership growth is an important priority for the club and it will have greater focus as we enter the new year 2023. One the initiatives will be for members to introduce a potential member at a scheduled ‘Each one, bring one’ meeting on 8 February 2023. Most existing members have been introduced by someone they know in Rotary so please seek someone in your family and network to attend.
RIMERN (Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network) rehome pre-loved homewares with Melbournians in need. This will be promoted at Hawthorn Bunnings on Thursday 8 December from 6pm to 8pm. A number of club members are actively involved in the organisation and it would be appreciated if other members could support this critical initiative by attending on the night.
Thank you to Nav Muniratna, Paul Casha, Murray Anderson and David Troon for assisting at the last Camberwell Sunday market.
Next week’s guest speaker will be Sam Davies and the topic will be ‘Fear of Flying and Aviation’. The Community Service Committee will also be collecting items for a St Vincent de Paul Christmas hamper. Christmas gifts for children up to 16 years of age or a gift voucher will be collected at the 7 December meeting. Please bring a Christmas gift donation for those who may not be able to afford one.
RIMERN is manning a stall at Bunnings Hawthorn this Thursday the 8th December and all are welcome to call by and say hello. The purpose of the stall is to raise awareness of RIMERN’s work supporting homeless people transitioning to accommodation.
The stall will be manned by members of the management team and they will be more than happy to answer any questions. Please let them know you are from Camberwell Rotary Club, a participating Club in this fantastic Rotary project.
