Club Meeting – Wednesday 26th June
There was no meeting held this week given the Art Show was in full swing with many members on the various rosters.
Demonstration Artists Sessions
Bendigo Community Bank senior management – Bob Stensholt, Nick Coker, Juliann Byron, Anna Gration and Coral Ross along with a host of staff and customers and Balwyn Rotary members attended the Art Show on the evening of Tuesday 25th. Again, the club was complimented on the quality of the Artwork on display and our efforts to put on a great event.
The day attendances were at a reasonable level, whereas the evening night attendances were much lower than previous years.
I mentioned last week that Adrian Campbell’s son Louis has videoed the gala event and we have now received a very professional and polished video which we will share at our Thank God It’s Over (TGIO) Club meeting on 10th July. We will also provide a more accurate figure of attendances at the event, number of paintings sold and sales value.
District Changeover
On a very rainy and cold Sunday afternoon (in downtown Keilor) Fulvia and I along with Graeme & Sue Hope, Fabienne Nichola and our new member David Chu attended the District Changeover.
There was some quality entertainment with the new District Governor Michael Lapina and family chiming in at the end for a rousing finale to the event. This is the last time he will sing at a Rotary event as he will not perform whilst in his DG role.
One of our Eastside cluster clubs (Balwyn) also nominated for two District Awards which they were successful in gaining. They received a Recognition Award for the Nature Strip Transformation Project in the Environmental Sustainability Category and a Recognition Award for social media under the category Public Image. Well done Balwyn and President Russell Jones.

Through the Magic of Rotary Let’s continue to Create Hope in the World and in our Communities
A Global or District Grant from The Rotary Foundation can help our club start its projects sooner or expand the reach and impact of your project through increased scope and scale. To be eligible for a grant in 2024-2025, however, our club must be represented at one of two District 9800 Grants Seminars to be held on Zoom in July 2024.
The first seminar will be on Thursday July 11th from 6:00pm until 7:30pm.
The second seminar will be on Sunday July 21st, from 2:00pm until 3:30pm.
Club presidents, Foundation chairs and Avenue of Service chairs will especially benefit from attendance, but all members are welcome to attend and learn about the work of the Rotary Foundation and how clubs can access grant funding to increase the impact of club projects.
Global and District Rotary Foundation Grants are available to every eligible club in District 9800. I do hope that you will be able to attend, and that you will encourage your members to attend to learn more about how The Rotary Foundation can help clubs reach their service goals sooner.
I believe it is possible to have multiple volunteer interests. Working on train sets was always fun; maybe some of your Members are looking to continue their engineering challenges or explore a new hobby.

All Rotarians are invited to attend the Open Day for Rotary Donations in Kind on Saturday 10th August 2024
Donations in Kind West Footscray, is a volunteer-based recycling facility and is part of Rotary’s Donations in Kind Network, a project of Rotary Australia World Community Service, (RAWCS.) It is a specialist operation that focuses on recycling goods with 85% of the goods processed being redeployed and just 11% sent to process recycling.
Donations In Kind processes goods donated by the corporate sector and distributes the goods through Rotary clubs to those in need wherever they are located, both locally and internationally.
We have also developed partnerships with several hospitals, aged care homes, schools and other suppliers who donate new and outdated stock to us. Rotary clubs then use this stock to fulfill projects in developing countries.
We would be delighted to welcome you to the store, participate in a guided tour with one of our senior volunteers, and participate in the formal opening ceremony at 11am.
