This week’s reflections from President Vijay Susarla

Presidential Press

The first fellowship night at the Tower Hotel was well supported with several partners/spouses in attendance. Thank you to Beverley Allen, Glenda Davies, Sue Hope, Evelyn Hunter, Margaret Joss, Lili-Anne Kriegler, Denise Oppy and Adrienne Sartori for their support.

Chaired by PE Daya Govender due to President Vijay Susarla having a family emergency, the highlight of the night was rock and roll dancing couple Jeanette and Peter demonstrating their talent.

This was followed by some courageous members taking to the dance floor under the dancers’ experienced guidance. By all accounts they all enjoyed the dance session.
A few members indicated interest in learning some beginners rock and roll moves.  Jeanette and Peter who are also experienced dance teachers, generously agreed to give a private beginners class at a later stage. We will explore a mutually agreed time in the near future and advise.

Stories
Mystery Amp, Speaker & Microphone
As part of the clean-up of items at Conochie Hall, I came across an old suitcase containing a "Realistic" brand amplifier, speaker and microphone:

I plugged it in and it still works, although it's not really high-fidelity! I assume this was bought for the Club prior to Conochie Hall installing the professional AV and PA system we had enjoyed for many years. Do any of the Club Members with membership going back further than my 13 years have any knowledge of these items: who bought it, why and when?

It seems a shame to send all this to the recyclers, so does anyone have a budding singer or guitarist as a child, grandchild or friend that would like this (semi) professional unit?

Please let me know if you have any knowledge of the history of these items, or if you would like to re-home it. Otherwise, out it goes!
