On Thursday 23 August I attended the ‘Good Connections: Linking Business and Community’ at the Boroondara Arts Centre. Although it followed a different format this year, this is a regular event Rotary Camberwell has supported in previous years. Our hosts were Nickie Wainwright Economic Development Officer, Business Events & Programs and Traci Atchin, Community Development Officer – Grants & Partnerships, both of whom are well known to local Rotary clubs. The event was ably facilitated by Hatrick and Co in partnership with Boroondara Council. Its aim was to bring together leaders from local businesses and not-for-profit organizations to network and find collaborative opportunities within the community attracting around 50 guests. The event was designed as a structured, interactive networking session to foster connections between businesses and community groups, helping them identify potential partnerships. Their objective was achieved as the group took part in several well thought out exercises in pairs or small groups to encourage conversations and exploration for collaboration, support and/or partnerships. Rotary Balwyn’s PE Julie Mulhauser was also in attendance. It was a great opportunity to interact with our local community and share knowledge of the community service activities the club is delivering, culminating in three individuals expressing interest in potential Rotary or Rotaract membership. |
