I had a number of comments about what a great night it was last Wednesday and I would have to agree. It was pleasing to see the return visit by a couple of potential members. The meeting was taken up firstly with the induction of Robert Pattison and then followed by a presentation by Felicity Sinfield - councillor at the City of Boroondara (COB) when not working in her full time  role at Victoria Police.
 
And talking about the COB we were also graced with the current Mayor Sophie Torney and her mother and past Mayor Lisa Hollingsworth now an Associate member of  our club. The latest induction of Robert took our membership number to 60 (57 Active members and 3 Honorary members).
 
 
 
Looking forward to seeing a number of you at Green Acres Golf Club on Thursday 8th May when we celebrate with North Balwyn their Forty Five Year anniversary.

Thursday 8th May – Our Club will celebrate with North Balwyn their 45 Year Anniversary at the Green Acres Golf Club, East Kew. 6.00  pm for 6.30 start.
 
NO Meeting at Conochie Hall on 7th May.
 
Wednesday 14th May - Update on the Kampong Thom Project by Mr. Ho Sivuthy (Thy) & Mr. Vann Narith (Narit) all the way from Cambodia. A Rotary District Grant partly funded this project.
 
Wednesday 21st May – Jackie Gatt from the Hawthorn Arts Centre will give us an update on the Arts Centre Community & Cultural Programming
 
Saturday 24th May – The club will hold a BBQ at Bunnings Hawthorn. Interested members should register
 
Wednesday 28th May – Mel Key from Education Chances will be our guest speaker. This event is likely to be held at the Tower Hotel.
 
Sunday 1st June – Hawthorn Makers Market
 
Wednesday 4th June – Art Show Sponsors Night
 
Wednesday 11th June – Member Victor Wang will deliver a Member Behind the Badge presentation
 
 
 
Service Committee News
The club Chair of Youth & Vocation, Adrian Campbell and Deputy Michael Blood recently attended the BHI Student Awards event. Our club again sponsored two academic awards being the Vocational Student of the Year and Trainee Student of the Year.
 
 
 
The Community Services Committee have also provided funding to Headspace Hawthorn which offers young people aged 12-25 a welcoming environment where they can access confidential mental health support, health advice and general information.
 
A Certificate of Appreciation has  also been received from Headspace

Have you recorded your 2025 Art Show Volunteer Commitments in your Calendar?
By now you would have received a number of Signup Confirmation emails from Alan Lorenzini. Alan has allocated you to these Shifts based on your previous availability and workload.
 
It's important you record these Volunteer Shifts in your diary/calendar, and if you use a digital calendar, you can click on the "event-details-ics" file at the bottom of the email - this will put the shift straight into your digital diary.
 
But would you like to see a list of all your Shifts in one place? Of course you would, and it's easily done:
  1. Go to our Club website. Make sure you are logged in
  2. Click on "Member's Services" on the Home Page Menu Line, and select "My ClubRunner"
  3. Select the "Commitments" option, and there are all your Volunteer Tasks listed:
 
So you now can check and make sure all your Shifts are in your Calendar, either manual or digital. Remember the Art Show does not function efficiently if people do not attend for their allocated Shifts.
