We gather together on the lands of the traditional custodians, the Wurundjeri and Woi Wurrung people. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future together.

Meeting at Tesoro Gastronomia on 1 November 2023
The meeting of 1 November 2023 was a social meeting at Teroso Gastromia Restaurant in Balwyn North. It was supported by more than 40 members, their spouses and three guests. Members enjoyed generous servings of authentic Italian pizza, pasta, wine, dessert and faultless hospitality. Thanks to Patrick Docherty and his team for a great night. Thank you also to members who assisted hosting three prospective members.
The restaurant is owned by two brothers, both Italian, and they donate 100% of their profits to local charities or to sponsor the Arts and community projects. Below is a quote from their website outlining the reason for their generosity:
‘As a collective, we recognise that our parents and grandparents sacrificed to give our generation the gifts of opportunity and prosperity; so, Tesoro was created in their honour to pay their legacy forward.’
Other Notes
At the previous meeting of 25 October 2023, members provided their input for the Regionalisation trial Community groups and their selection of candidates for the Regionalisation Council. Both have been submitted within the cut-off date.
Next week the club meeting will return to the Conochie Centre. The guest speaker will be Nikko Riazi, Chair of Education CHANCES Scholarship Program. Helen Worladge OAM, the Founder and Dior Meaney Liu, a past recipient, will also be attending the meeting.
The Education CHANCES Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students who live or study in Boroondara and whose families are experiencing financial hardship. For further information see: https://educationchances.org.au/
A number of prospective members will also be in attendance and again I hope you can extend the usual warm Rotary hand of friendship to them.
Let’s work together, to take action to create hope in the world and in our local communities.
Have a great week in Rotary and see you all on 15th November.
