We gather together on the traditional Lands of the Wurundjeri and Woi Wurrung people. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future together.
After an absence since 15 June, it was great to get back to HQ this week to celebrate the amazing effort by club members at the recent Camberwell Art Show (CAS) otherwise known as ‘Thank God it’s Over’ (TGIO). We were treated to a smorgasbord of delights provided by and shared with members. The CAS Chair, Murray Anderson did a terrific job acknowledging a number of individuals whose personal lives were on hold for most of the two to three weeks while they delivered this major event. Thank you, Murray for a successful TGIO. Thank you to the CAS team and to all the members who assisted.
Kerry Anne Frost provided an update of her past two weeks or so in Moshi. Impressively she has delivered a container of desks and chairs to a much appreciative Secondary School. Amongst a number of initiatives, she is lobbying the municipality to improve the sewerage system for the same school. Students are suffering the effects of open sewerage through the school grounds. Kerry Anne is truly an inspiration with her Team Vista work.
A reminder to members to continue to support the Camberwell Sunday Market. It is equally important for those on the roster to arrive in a timely manner. We are committed to provide four half shifts to the market every week and in return we receive consistent funds for our Charity funds.
Next week, the theme will be ‘Introducing the President’. I will provide a brief bio and an outline of the priorities for the coming Rotary year.
Note that next week the bar will be cashless. The Bar will have the use of an EFTPOS machine for transactions. If you prefer to use cash, you will need to have the correct amount. Should you wish to have more than one drink, the EFTPOS machine will be available during the meeting for payment. Please make your payment before you help yourself to another glass. You will also be able to purchase raffle tickets on the same basis on entry.
Look forward to seeing you at next week’s meeting. Following the meeting, our Board will meet for our first meeting.

With so many members expressing an interest in starting their own hands-on volunteering project, this is a must-attend workshop to learn from the experts on how to start a project that volunteers - especially younger volunteers - are keen to get involved with.
Come join us on Sunday 31 July 2022 for National Tree Planting Day coordinated by Rotary Melbourne.

Bring your gardening gloves and wear sturdy footwear! This is a great event to invite family and friends along to, so we can all make a meaningful difference, together.
Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) has launched the first national appeal to support and resource Rotary clubs in flood-affected areas in and around Sydney Basin.
As always things are polepole (slow) so achieving my list of ‘jobs to do’ each week never really happens.
We spent most of the week catching up with the various primary schools, checking on the kids and trying to get a letter written and a short video. Their English is so incredibly poor.
Accommodation is very basic and to get enough warm water to wash my hair is a challenge. There is also no wifi at the accommodation.
I have resorted to buying a ‘router’ for wifi for Team Vista house. Costly but what a difference it has made.....
