We gather together on the lands of the traditional custodians, the Wurundjeri people. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future together.

Club Meeting Conochie Hall - Wednesday 20th March 24
By co-incidence we had Ted Waghorne (RC Canterbury) as our guest speak who talked about “Electrify Boroondara” a community-led alliance dedicated to accelerating the transition to a clean energy future.
The specific goals include:
increasing the uptake of rooftop solar and batteries
reducing the use of gas by transitioning to electric appliances
increasing the uptake of electric vehicles and e-bikes
improving the energy efficiency of new and existing housing stock, apartments, and other buildings.
The alliance is looking for ten volunteers to become Home Energy Guides. A grant from the City of Boroondara allows the alliance to provide training and the volunteers will learn more about energy efficiency and use their skills to support our community reduce emissions and energy bills.
If interested visit https://electrifyboroondara.org/home-energy-guides to find out more and apply.
Let’s work together, to take action to create hope in the world and in our local communities.
Last Friday a large number of Rotary Camberwell Members, partners and Past members gathered to farewell Audrey Steven, the wife of over 70 years of long-serving Club Member John Steven, who predeceased her less than a year ago. Audrey was deeply involved with Rotary with her much loved husband and was awarded two Paul Harris recognitions. Our thoughts are with her surviving adult children John, Jo and Peter (Past Member), and the many grand- and great grand-children.

Invitation - Guest Speaker RIPE Stephanie Urchik at Rotary E-Club of Melbourne
Good morning all,
We'd like to extend our invitation to each of your clubs to join the Rotary E-Club of Melbourne for a very special guest speaker, RI President-Elect Stephanie Urchik, who will be joining us on Wednesday 12th June at 9PM AEST.
Our meeting will be held on Zoom, with the details below, and also in the attached image which you can use in your bulletins, if you'd like.
We'll also be sharing the details on our Facebook page tomorrow, making it available to any Rotarians who wish to join, but wanted to share this with you and your clubs first, especially given its auspicious timing at the end of this particular Rotary Year.
With the Rotary E-Club of Melbourne transitioning to the new E-Clubs Community Group made up of clubs across Zone 8, we especially wanted to emphasise both links to our new collaborators across the Zone, and our close and continuing friendship with the clubs of the Batman Cluster, which has been our home for many years, and with whom we look forward to continuing to serve .
Regards,
Stephen

The planning for the D9800 Conference has definitely ramped up, with the conference now just a few short weeks away. You may recall that during the registration process when you puchased your tickets for the Conference, we asked for an indication as to your potential interest in activities to be planned for Friday 12th April.
Based on the feedback received we have now arranged two activities, a social round of golf at the Bendigo Golf Course or a social game of bowls at the Kangaroo Flat Bowls Club. Details of each option are as follows -
D9800 Conference Social Golf - Friday, 12th April - 1pm Start
Bendigo Golf Club
33 Golf Course Road, Ascot 3551
A 9 Hole Round
Cost is $20.00 per player (paid on the day) - Drinks at Bar Prices
Clubs and/or Golf Cart Hire is available - bookings in advance are recommended
D9800 Conference Social Bowls - Friday, 12th April - 12:30pm Start
Kangaroo Flat Bowls Club
1 Station Street, Kangaroo Flat 3555
2 Games of 10 Ends - Drawn Pairs
$15 Green Fee (paid on the day) includes nibbles, tea & coffee. Drinks at bar prices.
Casual dress. Flat sole shoes or bare feet.
Bowls available for use if required.
Are you interested and keen to enjoy a social afternoon playing either of these sports? Then simply email d9800conference@gmail.com to book your place, indicate which sport you want to play and then turn up on the day ready to enjoy one of our wonderful sporting facilities in Bendigo.
Bookings for both events will close on 25th March 2024 - this gives you plenty of time to pack the clubs or polish the bowls in readiness to head to Bendigo for a great social gathering leading into our wonderful 'Gathering on the Goldfields' Conference.
