Andrew’s story starts with his early days at Fairfield primal School to now… having a varied life both in Australia and overseas After he finished school Andrew became an apprentice Hand Compositor in the printing industry working for a small printshop producing Chemist labels in Fairfield After he qualified he moved on to a larger Print shop that was producing direct marketing Material for the Dairy Market…. This was the start of Andrew’s move into the area of advertising and promotion commencing his new roles with Ramsay Surgical and Fibermakers As a sports and adventure minded person he played Basketball for powerhouse and was involved in many out door activities such as bush walking and Skiing through the National Fitness Council in Victora and later paying his own way through the 26 day Outward Bound course in early 1966. 
In 1972 Andrew married Evelyn After 18 months the wounder lust took over and Andrew and Evelyn set sail for a 2 1/2 year sojourn to Europe in February 74. Buying a tax free Car in Sweden a SAAB before the left Australia they arrived in Denmark before travelling to Gothenburg to pick up the car then off to Norway to secure a farm stay summer Job. Back in England they picked up camping gear then off to tour southern Europe before their summer Farm Stay in Norway. A Farm Stay with a difference…. as the farmer was working on the North Sea oil Rigs Andrew and Evelyn did all the farm work looking after and milking the cows collecting the Eggs and cutting the hay….for 3 months. After Norway back to England to a live-in-Job at the OLD SWAN a 16 century pub in Surrey before the Winter Job in Scotland at a Ski Resort. Andrew became a ski instructor working for the Weekend Ski Club over two winter seasons where he became assistant Ski school Director managing 40 instructors while Evelyn look after the accommodation of the 8000 plus punters that came to the resort each season. The following the Farm stay in Norway Andrew and Evelyn took a job on a small cargo boat (600 Tones) so they could travel up the Norwegian Coast all the way up to the Russian Boarder …Andrew the deckhand and Evelyn the Ships Cook for a crew of 6 over 3 months…the boats size meant that it went into many of the small fiords that the big commercial tourist boats never go into. Back in Australia in late 76 Andrew went back in to the Advertising Industry running a graphic art studio before working in advertising departments in a range of companies in…Agriculture, Banking, Labor Hire before Running his own advertising agency specialising in the Agricultural Industry. 
Sport still played an important place in his life’s well as basketball he became a member of the APEA Ski Club at Mt Hotham worked on the maintenance committee and became president for several years and is still a member after 46 years. Andrew joined Rotary in Brisbane in 1990 and joined Chadstone East Malvern when he returned to Melbourne and now Camberwell. In his time in Rotary and has worked on sever D9800 Districts committees and projects.. and Andrew and Evelyn have been on O/S projects to Samoa and India. This does not really tell the story the presentation shows the true flavour of the 80 years of his life. |
