General Meeting – Conochie Hall, 15 November 2023

I am back! and am really glad to be back at the club after being away for four weeks on a medical mission to the Philippines and ten days in Thailand on holidays.

A very sincere thanks again to PP Fabienne Nichola for managing the club activities and meetings in my absence. It is greatly appreciated.

New Member Induction

I was pleased to induct our newest member Jessica Wat who was accompanied by her son Daniel. I have never seen anyone so grateful and excited to be inducted into the club.

Jessica was introduced to David Baker and Fabienne early this year. She also attended a FORaMEAL session with our club and on another occasion enjoyed assisting with the packing of emergency relief meals.

Jessica is originally from Hong Kong and has lived in Melbourne for the past 18 years and is a property sales executive with Biggin Scott. According to her employer, she has been very successful and recognised in the industry for her achievements.

Jessica is married with 3 children. She enjoys spending time with her family, travel and music and we look forward to Jessica being an active participant on the International committee and in our club generally.

Box Hill Institute - Student Awards and Recognition Dinner

It was my pleasure to attend the Box Hill Institute student awards and recognition dinner (the food was fantastic) with Member Michael Blood and to meet the student Joshua O’Connor who will benefit from our scholarship (Bert Stevens Award).
Joshua is studying a Certificate III in Carpentry and has been identified as an aspirational student who is dedicated to improving his skills. Josh has excelled in his apprenticeship and his individual studies. He dreams of one day working in the construction industry and owning his own formwork business.
Joshua has a partner (Dezi) and 3 year-old son Mason who were also at the dinner and we look forward to seeing Joshua at a club meeting.

Upcoming Events are:
  • 22nd November – Speaker - Maureen Salter - Camberwell High School
  • 29th November – Club Forum
  • 6th December – Club Assembly
12th December – Club Christmas Event

Let’s work together, to take action to create hope in the world and in our local communities.
Have a great week in Rotary and see you all on 15th November.

President George de Souza and Michael Blood attended the Box Hill Institute Student Recognition&Awards Dinner at the Fountains Restauranton Thursday evening.

On that occasion our Club's Bert Stevens Apprentice Scholarship was presented to Joshua O`Connor, who is studying a Certificate111 in Carpentry. He was identified by the teaching staff at the Box Hill Institute as being an aspirational student who has excelled in his apprenticeship and his individual studies. A perfect fit for our Bert Stevens Apprentice Scholarship for 2023, named after a much loved and outstanding foundation member of the Rotary Club of Camberwell. The BHI presented President George with a framed certificate of appreciation of our continued support of their apprentices.

We shall endeavour to invite Joshua and his teacher and a senior representative of the Box Hill Institute as soon as possible to our Club weekly meeting.
