The Rotary clubs of Glenferrie, Hawthorn and Camberwell will welcome Rotarians from all over the world, in Melbourne to attend the Rotary International Convention 2023. Celebrate the 2023 Camberwell Art Show opening by painting outdoors at the ‘Plein Air’ day in the City of Boroondara.

• Artists who wish to participate must Register at https://www.trybooking.com/CHYZN for the event by 6:00pm Thursday 1st June and pay a $20 entry fee.
• On Sunday 4th June 2023, registered artists for the event will meet at 11am outside the main entrance to the Hawthorn Town Hall in Burwood Rd, Hawthorn.
• At the Town Hall, the registered artists would be given stamped paper/canvas (generously supplied by Senior Art Supplies) for their painting and have an allocated amount of time, a maximum of 3 hours to paint within Boroondara.
• On completion of their painting, each artist will return to the registration desk at the Town Hall entrance at 2pm and give their painting to the Camberwell Rotary Club Representative.
• Once all the paintings have been collected, renowned watercolourist Joseph Zbukvic will judge the entries.
• The announcement of the winner will be at 1pm on Saturday 24th June at the Camberwell Art Show with the winning artist being presented with an original Joseph Zbukvic watercolour.

NB. If there is rain on this day there are many indoor options available for artists to paint under cover … ’plein air’ artists are a very hardy lot!

Seeing a clear and urgent need to help women and their children affected by family violence in Melbourne, Maxine put her time, marketing and fundraising skills to establishing You Matter. She began her marketing career with Intrepid Travel in Australia. Moving to London, she worked as Director, New Media Marketing for Access Conferences, then as Marketing Director for McBains Cooper Property and Construction UK. On moving to Hong Kong with her family, she worked on various fundraising campaigns and online marketing businesses. Returning to Australia , Maxine put her skills towards helping those in need - managing You Matter's day to day operations and fundraising activities.

Due to the closure of the Conochie Centre, the venue for the meeting of 14 June 2023 will be held at the Zelman Room, Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn. It will be a buffet style meal. The cost will be $35 plus drinks at bar prices. Prior to the meeting, you may wish to visit the exhibition by 2022 Boroondara Arts Encouragement Award winner Caroline Calway which opens Saturday 10 June.

Part of the night is also set aside for the Camberwell Rotary Art Show briefing, so bring along your partners as well.

Murray is a member of the Rotary Club of Williamstown and was Governor of District 9800 in 2014 - 2015.

Professionally Murray is a retired medical practitioner and worked for 36 years in his general practice along his wife who is also a GP.

Murray took on the role of End Polio Now Coordinator for Rotary Zone 8 from 1st July 2022. He is looking forward to supporting Clubs as Rotary gets closer to its goal of a poloio free World.

This is the June Board Meeting of The Rotary Club of Camberwell Inc, reporting on the month of May. We also welcome the incoming Board Members for 2023-2024, and thank the outgoing Directors.

It's all hands on deck for this phase of the Camberwell Art Show. On Monday all the equipment required to stage the Show is transported from Kent's Storage to the ATC. On Tuesday ALL paintings have to be received physically and digitally into the Show. On Wednesday ALL paintings have to be hung on the panels. Thursday is for finalsing the position of artwork on the panels, and for judging. Friday is for final adjustments to the panels, cleaning up, and setting up for the Gala Opening.

The 2023 Camberwell Art Show Bump In/Set Up is in full swing, and hence we will have our traditional Weekly Meeting at Swinburne, where there will be a minimum of formalities and plenty of work to do - we need to have the hanging of paintings well advanced by the end of this evening's work.

The Gala Opening of the Camberwell Art Show is an event not to missed - fabulous food, good wines, and of course the first opportunity to purchase your favourite piece of art.

The 2023 Camberwell Art Show is over, and next week is the opportunity for all club members to come together again at a club meeting, after all their hard work. The Camberwell Art Show Chair, Jon Oppy will be away for two more weeks or so, and an outline of the outcome of the Art Show will be presented on his return.

The Changeover is still a week away but the incoming President George de Souza, will take the opportunity at this meeting to outline his plans for the year ahead. As this is the first meeting for the new Rotary year, it is a timely presentation.

Conochie hall is still unavailable and the club's meeting will be held at a temporary venue at the Parkview Room, Camberwell Civic Centre.There is ample parking on Inglesby Road. Please enter through the sliding door to the west of Ignite café (the park side) and a team member will be there to greet you.

Tonight’s Guest Speaker is District Secretary Jane Pennington, who will provide an update on the Rotary Regionalisation pilot. You will be aware that our Club voted to be part of this pilot program.

It is vitally important that all members attend this meeting, as decisions will be made that will affect how our Club fits into the proposed Regionalisation model.
