Dear Members,
We have just been advised that emails are being sent out from - "from the Clubrunner platform" - to other Rotary members with wording
"Do you probably have a few minutes to spare today? I'll be needing you to help me with a task discreetly. Best Regards Mikaela"
if you respond, the response will be along something like this:
"I'm so tied up right now, can you purchase an Apple gift card 5 pieces -"$100 each at any nearby store?
I would reimburse you when I am through later today. I would have preferred to call you but can't receive or call at the moment with my line let me know if you can purchase them now."
The email address this came from is not a genuine clubrunner email but they do give the appearance of coming from an actual Rotary member, in this case Mikaela, and was sent to another member of her club.
Please be very careful if you get anything like this and ring the person it is supposed to be from to verify they have sent it before responding.
I will be contacting Clubrunner to investigate the issue.
Regards
Marjorie
District Secretary
