As you know, October is the month to raise funds for End Polio Now, via the Rotary Walk With Us campaign. Last year, The Rotary Club of Camberwell Team were the top fundraisers in District 9800.

This year, Team Camberwell (consisting of Murray Anderson, Treasurer George de Souza, President Patrick Docherty, Graeme Hope and Margaret and Lyndon Joss) have raised $3,332 so far, putting us in 6th place on the District Leaderboard. It's been a fun and healthy way to raise funds for such an important cause, with the added bonus of getting some exercise out of the house during Lockdown.

Polio is the world’s forgotten disease and something that should have been made history a long time ago. Polio is a crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease. There is no cure, but there are safe and effective vaccines. The strategy to eradicate polio is therefore based on preventing infection by immunizing every child until transmission stops and the world is polio-free.

In October we are asking you to Walk With Us for those that can’t. Please consider making a donation to Team Camberwell by clicking the following link: https://www.rotarywalkwithus.org/fundraisers/teamcamberwell/walk-with-us

or select your favourite team member and donate on their individual page.

All donations through Rotary will be matched 2 to 1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation who are partners of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. All donations over $2.00 are tax deductable. Individuals, teams and Rotary clubs will be recognised and credited for their donations by The Australian Rotary Foundation Trust.

So please support Team Camberwell, it's not too late, a donation large or small is really appreciated and will make a difference.
