Camberwell Rotary needs more Volunteers!

To do good in the world, we rely on our Club Members to help with our fundraising projects and help with our various charitable projects. Think of the Camberwell Art Show, the Camberwell Sunday Market, the Hawthorn Makers Market, Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network, Camp Getaway, even Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds.

And wouldn't it be great if new could engage some non-Rotarians to help us? They may even eventually become new Members!

Well, the City of Boroondara is holding the Boroondara Volunteer Expo on Wednesday 22 March at the Hawthorn Town Hall from 12pm - 6pm and President Fabienne has agreed to have a table at the Expo to attract new volunteers.

Research shows that a large proportion of the population is willing to volunteer, but are unaware of the opportunities to do so. The City of Boroondara is addressing this issue by bringing together those who wish to volunteer for something, and those organisations which need volunteers.

We will need 2 people on the stand at any one time, and I suggest we spilt the work into 3 x 2 hour shifts. To successfully attract volunteers to our various opportunities, we will need to bring and display appropriate promotional material: banners, flags, flyers, handouts etc.

I have offered to coordinate our presence at the Expo and organise the volunteers. To this end I will be circulating a Volunteer Signup List in a week or two, and ask Club Members to offer their services - it's not a massive demand on our time.
