Dear Camberwell Rotarians,

I’ve been a member of Rotary since 2008. The first District Conference (DC) I attended was in March 2010 in Perth when Dennis Coleman was President. I have not missed one since.

It is one of the key milestones of the District Governor and the planning starts more than 12 months earlier. The venue is central to the success of the event. Although I’ve attended many interstate DCs, the past few years have been in Victorian regional towns to support our local businesses. Like all large events, Covid has impacted the last two year’s conferences and this year will be face-to-face.

The reasons I attend:
  • The speakers are generally outstanding. I’ve always been moved by a least one speaker each time and inspired by many. Speakers represent key people in our community as well as Rotary leaders.
  • It is a great opportunity to interact with our club members in a different social setting.
  • It is also an opportunity to interact with other club members across the district and learn about their club (some of them become on-going friends and catch up at subsequent DC).
  • I thoroughly enjoy the offerings of the regional town where the event is held.
  • Friday night is traditionally a Club dinner and is always enjoyable.
  • Saturday night is an optional gala event. It’s a chance to dress up, enjoy a lovely dinner, drinks and meet new Rotarian friends. It’s always great fun.
Overall DC is a great weekend away in a selected regional town that you may otherwise not visit. It’s a great time to learn more about Rotary and its various activities as well as fellowship event to enjoy.

I encourage you to register before 23 February and take advantage of the Early Bird price and save $35. First time attendees receive a discount of $100 less than the normal price. Click the link District Conference 2022 to be taken to the booking form.

See you at the District 9800 Conference on Friday 22 to Sunday 24 April 2022 in Albury.

Regards, President-Elect Fabienne Nichola
