What a big week in Melbourne with the Pandemic, Protestors, a natural disaster & Grand Final to look forward to and through all this RC Camberwell have been busy getting on with business and loading tables & Chairs into a container for Timor, a sizeable loot of non perishable food items were delivered to the Asylum seeker resource centre & more volunteers were busy collecting & sorting household items for RIMERN, thanks to everyone for rolling up their sleeves and getting involved to really make a difference
This week on Zoom we have another high-profile speaker in Chanel Nine Journalist Christine Ahern. Christine is the Melbourne correspondent for the Today Show, winning two Quill awards for her reporting during the COVID crisis. Christine began her TV career with the ABC's Landline program as a researcher, before moving to Hobart to become the sport reporter/presenter for ABC News.
As a Queensland representative swimmer Christine has always had a passion for sport, so her next move was to the sporting capital Melbourne, working with the ABC across TV and radio.
In 2004 she made the move to Channel 9 as a sport reporter/presenter in the Melbourne newsroom & in this time has covered five Olympic Games
so please join us for a meeting not to be missed
October is the Walk with Us to End Polio.Team Camberwell has been set up and is looking for members to get involved, either by participating in a walk or sponsoring members… Let’s get involved... The Rotary Walk With Us campaign throughout October is a fun way to raise awareness and funds to End Polio Now
- Using Rotary’s friendly website (www.rotarywalkwithus.org), you can register to walk, set your distance and fundraising goals. Alternatively, you can donate to someone who is walking and at the moment George, Vijay & Patrick have registered and looking for support
Our thoughts are with long time members & dear friends John & Audrey Steven who are both in Hospital recovering from a recent medical challenge
That’s it from me for this week, have a good week in Rotary, let’s keep connecting, be kind to one another, stay safe & let’s hope Carlton are back in the finals next year where they belong !!
