Geoff Widmer from RC Glenferrie who is acting as our district/cluster Coordinator for Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds (RORP) has advised that the next extraction of playground equipment will be taking place in Sydare Reserve, East Malvern during May 2014.
This is a great "hands on" project in which serviceable playground equipment is carefully salvaged and subsequently exported to countries in Asia where it is re-erected.
The Councils from whose parks the playground equipment is extracted pay Rotary for removing the equipment and these funds are used to ship the equipment to their overseas destinations.
Quite a few members of RC Camberwell have participated in these activities in the past and we are again being asked to provide volunteers.
The date of extractions will be advised as soon as it is known and usually takes place on a weekday.
